The Send/Receive Button gives error when clicked

I had used bacrex to backup my email messages and contacts but when I
restored it after a wipe, the send/receive button will only give me an error
when I click it. there is no error code or explanation. If I click on just
Receive or just Send, it will do fine. It is just the main button itself that
will not do anything. Any ideas why it does this or how to correct it? I have
removed bacrex, I have wiped out all identities on windows mail and started
fresh but to no avail. The mail sends and receives fine as long as I click on
the individual Receive or Send in the drop down menu of the Send/Receive
major button. It is really annoying. I would appreciate any help or
suggestions.

Windows Mail doesn't have "identities", so it isn't clear what you did.

That problem is usually caused by interference from an antivirus
program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:
