The Internet is shutting down my PC

M

Michael

Every time I get online, I'm ok for a few minutes, then
a message box comes up with this message:

Your system is shutting down.
This shutdown was initiated by
NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Your computer will shut down in: 00:50 seconds.

The Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
terminated unexpectedly.

And then it shuts down. What do I do?

You'll have to remove the Blasgter worm.

Apparently, your computer has an unwelcome visitor
(VIRUS) known
as the WM32 Blaster/Lovsan WORM. It only takes a split
second for
this WORM to infect your computer if a firewall is not
enabled and you
have an active internet connection.

It entered the computer through the internet connection
because the "firewall"
was not properly enabled and essential critical updates
were not installed from
the Windows Update website. For instructions on fixing
the problem, visit:

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

Windows update or a firewall or god forbid an anti virus
program could have prevented all of the trouble you are
about to recieve

First, stop the bug from running by hitting CTRL-ALT-DELETE and
bringing up the task manager. Look for msblast.exe in the list, and
kill it. Now your computer won't shut down, but the bug is still there
and will run the next time you start your machine. Go to this URL to
find out how to get rid of it:

See www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_qr.htm#rpc
<http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_qr.htm> for a quick removal tool for the
MSBlast worm and a link to the Microsoft patch to prevent future infection.
Then update your antivirus software and scan your system.
