The Best FireWall!

I've been using ZoneAlarm 2.1.44 for years!
Have upgraded because the newer version seem to have too many problems!
Anything better out there yet?
Just wondering.
Thanks!

Kerio Personal 2.15 or Sygate Personal 5.0.1150 are about the same, and I
like both a lot better than ZoneAlarm.

on my pc with win98se and zone alarm, it takes a lot of time to
shutdown.
I replaced ZA on my second pc with the same timedefault with outpost.
The shutdown time is a lot smaller than with ZA.

Norton 2003 is very good(i've read in some reviews - it was more or less the
winner) , however i've heard that ver 2004 is crap. SO, i'll stick with my
2003 for a while.ð
serves me just fine

It's not free, though. None of really good ones is, you know. For good stuff
you have to pay it, mate.

I disagree with that. I have mentioned previously how norton shafted me and
I wouldn't have them again. And that is with me having cd's of 2000, 2001,
2002 not to mention floppies going back several years. I wish them all the
luck in the world, just not the good kind.

For firewall I use ZoneAlarm. My ISP also has a good filter evidently
because after I had him activate it my spam dropped 90%.

For virus I use AntiVir Guard.

Both came from this ng, both work fine as far as I know. (Or at least,
nothing has melted down yet.)

I disagree with that.

ZA is fairly good. Outpost is better but a bit buggy on some things
(At least it was for me...though that was a few versions ago).
Kerio, I've found, is the best for me...and I've used commercial fw's
before.

Another vote for Kerio 2.1.5 Yay! ;)

Having said no vows over ZA, I might just give yours a trial.

Glenn

Yep, Kerio is the winner for me. Only problem is I cannot find
anything but V. 4. Anybody got a link for V.2? Does it time out like
V.4 and go to a "limited" version of itself?

Thnx.

That was just about the quickest and cleanest uninstall/install I've
seen in awhile...assuming no trash was left behind.

Kerio 2 is not nearly as "slick" looking as v.4 but who cares! V.2 is
much smaller and leaner. Much less resource hog and still has the
features I need. Really nice.

Thanks again for the link to Kerio 2.

Seconded here with version 1.0 ; as long as I had v1.0 installed,
easyphp became extremely unstable. Since v2.0 (not free, OT), this
seems to have been fixed.

Me too - Kerio 2.15 for its light weight, no-nonsense solid approach -
Although I recently built a very high-end WinXP machine and trusty
Kerio wouldn't stop crashing :(. I wonder if the lack of updates for
this app will soon leave it obsolete as new hardware or OS updates
come online. Since have put Zone Alarm on and it's been solid.

Speaking of Outpost, it has just flat missed flagging outgoing traffic
from new apps for me in the past - couldn't stick with it. Maybe
better now though with updated versions...

How is Sygate for bloat? Is it lightweight?
