text to speech: preview voice fails

Anyone got this to work? trying preview of Anna voice gives error msgbox.

error: voice cannot be played. select another voice or audio output device.

I found the thread here about too many audio devices getting in the way.
Disabled my voice modem and speech recognition started up now. (Hope MS fixes
this in RTM. Consumers will freak out!)

Any ideas what can block playback of voice? WIth RTM to manufacturing, maybe
it is too late eh? LOL

I have an intel d975xbx2 with sigmatel audio. the vista drivers from intel
seem to work fine except in text to speech. microsoft ana works but mary and
mige produce the error you described.
