Temporarily disable MS AntiSpyware?

J

Jack

I need to temporarily disable MS AntiSpyware in an
installation script. I've tried "taskkill /f /im
gcasServ.exe", but that doesn't work. Anyone know how I
can do this? (I've tried searching this group, but the
search function has been disabled!)

Thanks,
Jack

Thanks, Andre, but I need to disable from WITHIN the
script, not have the user do it.

Hi

MSAS Beta 1 is nothing for corporate environments/networks if the admin
believes that he can remotely control this app. ;(

Every admin which installs it must be prepared to go to every
client and change settings or to learn every user.

It was never intend to run from any admin console.
A corporate version is coming !

And the script function is also buggy so I cannot see any remote way
to handle MSAS. It is possible to tailor make settings files but that
is also a lot of works.

Sunbelt have a corporate version !

Answering this could open alot of doors for potential
attacks on MS Antispy using encrypted scripts so I really
cannot help on this, Im not trying to say your motives
are not genuine, I'm sure they are but it may give others
idea's on ways to shut down MSAS to infect the system.

Sorry :)

Hi Jack,
As was posted elsewhere, one shouldn't run this on a production machine. It
is neither designed nor intended at this time for an Enterprise deployment,
or for deployment in an Enterprise.

Additional info on what may happen in an Enterprise situation can be found
here:

You might want to try a GPO, but I won't guarantee anything.

You know, that thought did cross my mind. If you could
easily disable MSAS via a script, it kinda defeats the
purpose of the application.
The reason I need a method to do this is that we run a
lot of automated installs / configuration updates on
client machines (as many as 28,000 firm-wide) and MSAS
has been found to interfere with / block some of these
processes. While we have NOT deployed MSAS while it's
Beta, we have found a significant number of users that
have installed it on their own.

Thanks for the replies!

Hi

Maybe to use harder GPOs ;)

Or make a "MSAS for dummies" instruction how to disable
script blocking !

This freeware is great for "Print screens" .

http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/

Start a WYSIWYG HTML editor and make the instruction and publish it,
done in a couple of minutes.

Send a mail to every user to follow your instruction.
