failed update(s)

Have the failure "cannot connect to the internet" when
trying to run automatic updates. Do not run Antispyware
in real-time mode, only invoke it on demand. Same thing
for CounterSpy. Both are installed on this PC, but
NEITHER run automatically on startup or in real-time.
Have a plethora of other anti-adware, anti-malware, anti-
spyware, anti-virus, firewalls, etc., but ALL other
online apps work correctly on my DSL connection.

Have even disabled the firewall completely (temporarily)
just in case it was interfering... no help. CounterSpy
and ALL others will update just as expected.

How do I fix this in MS-AntiSpyWare Beta?

I think I read in previous post about incompatibility with CounterSpy which
is Sun Belt, try removing that and see if the update works. Also Firewalls
also known to block updates for MSAS, I have had a similar experience with
Zone Alone blocking my updates.

There've been a number of posts from folks with both Counterspy and
Microsoft Antispyware installed with this same issue. One person reported
that uninstalling Counterspy fixed it for her. There must be a better way,
but I don't have another solution.

Well, for what it's worth, it may be an issue of what
ORDER the two are installed in. I'm not about to give up
my paid subscription to CounterSpy, especially since it
has detected problems that AntiSpyWare has missed (thus
far). But,...:

I UNINSTALLED AntiSpyWare, then reinstalled it, leaving
CounterSpy in place, and now they BOTH work fine. I am
not; however, running either in real-time at startup. I
invoke them ad-hoc.

Originally I installed CounterSpy last, but in the
reinstall it was first. Don't know if this would be true
for the next machine, but on the PC I originally reported
the problem on, this has now resolved the update issue.

Thanks for the feedback...

Thanks for letting us know this resolution--this may help others with the
same issue.
