Temp files

I keep getting error messages that say there are MANY corrupt files in C:\Documents and Settings\MyComputer\Local Settings\Temp directory. This includes things such as winlogon, helpctr, and other basic things. I can no longer install games either. My sound stopped working, and I don't know if its related or not, though both problems started around the same time. I cannot open or delete the folder, because I get an error message saying the folder is corrupted/unreadable. I tried running the Chkdsk untility, but I get an error message after it finishes the process.

Anyone have any ideas besides reformatting?

Better log on to the system in safe mode and delete the temporary files.

C:\Documents and Settings\MyComputer\Local Settings\Temp directory

You will not be able to delete these files in normal mode if the files are
corrupt.
