Systems Restore

Is Systems Restore a problem as I am led to believe that
viruses even though ostensibly killed are brought back to
life by Systems Restore. If so this a major deterrent to
using this otherwise superb facility. Is there anyway
around having to purge your system points everytime you
are infected. I use AVG who say they have cleaned the
virus but have they, if it is sitting in Systems restore.
I would like to know how I can physically check the
files. How can I access the restore files?
Should I only switch on systems restore after a virus
check save a check point and then switch off? It sounds
tedious but it might be safer. Any views?

Every time you are infected? I've been infected once in
three years. And only because I was trying out a new
browser. It's not much of a problem with a current anti-
virus program with up to date definitions.

As for the volume files they are protected and cannot be
accessed. If you are infreted shutting off system restore
and turning it back on is not much of a hassel.
