Systems do not go into time-out standby anymore

Hi,

After installing MS AntiSpyware beta on several systems,
these systems do not go into standby anymore after the
time-out.
It happens on both Windows XP and Windows 2000.
This even counts when AntiSpyware is completely disabled
on the systems.
It is possible to bring the systems manually into standby.
Only after a complete uninstall the time-out standby
function is restored.

Is anybody else seeing this?

I'm sorry but my systems go into standby without a problem. Standard installs of
windows 2000 pro, XP pro, Server 2003 enterprise, and XP tablet pc. The server
and tablet are fresh installs, only really have patches, packs, and Antivirus on
them (and of course MS antispyware). They are behaving in a normal fashion.

I would like to hear more about this though because I have a "green" client who
uses power saving features like standby (hibernation and sleep) extensively. I
would be a bummer if I installed MSAS only to have them have the same problems
you've described.

It is happening for me on three completely different
systems:
1) Dell Dimension L500CX (Celeron) - Win 2000 Pro-SP4 EN
2) Dell Dimension 4600 (Pentium 4) - Windows XP-SP2 NL
3) ASUS laptop M6000Ne (Centrino) - Windows XP-SP2 NL
All systems are fuly patched with the available Microsoft
updates.
It starts right after installing of MSAS, and disappears
right after un-installation.

It appears to be an incompatibility between MSAS beta
1.509 and RealVNC 4.1
After uninstalling RealVNC 4.1 (which happens to be
installed on all these systems) from the Dell Dimension
L500CX this system is entering the timeout standby again.

Can you try disabling real-time protection via the "workaround" paragraph in
this KB article and see how this affects the behavior you are describing?

block administrative actions that originate from a central management tool
after they install Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) on a computer that is managed
by Systems Management Server 2003
