system32\hal.dll problem

(I have experienced a problem similar to a previous post on 18 June entitled
-Boot.ini - problem.)
My problem is, error on system32\hal.dll and then it asks me to re-install
a copy of the file.
I do not have a floppy drive and have tried booting up from the installation
disc.
When I reach the recovery console this leaves me with C:\WINDOWS> I do
not know what do next, I have typed in help which then lists some
command-name.
This where I do not know what to do next, if someone could explain, what
next?
I would be very grateful ( in simple terms please)

David, go back into the Recovery Console and at the prompt C:\Windows
type: bootcfg /rebuild That will do a scan of your system to look
for any XP installs and fix the boot.ini accordingly. Go here and read this
