System task hangs

System task hangs
The system (IBM Thinkpad A31) boots normally. Then, once
in a while, trying to open My Computer, or Internet
Explorer, the system hangs (though the mouse curcor is
still moving). Nothing responds. Having a look at the
Task Manager, I found that the System task uses all the
CPU. From then, there is no way I can run anything on
that machine. I have to restart it.
Any idea how to fix that?

find out what is taking up all the space by going to
process and find the one that takes up the most memory

Thanks for the advice. Found that IBM DLA was the thing to
get rid of.
