System is ASUS ASN-SLI Deluxe

System is ASUS ASN-SLI Deluxe
ATHLON64
2 SATA drives on C+D

I am _trying_ to retrieve information from a WD 313600. It is
connected to the IDE slot on the board and Windows recognizes it as a
PNP and it shows in Device Manager, says it is working properly and
also says that the driver is the latest so I shouldn't update it.
Here's the BUT

It doesn't show in Explorer or My Computer, so I can't copy the files
to the SATA drives and be rid of IDE. I have moved the jumpers around
in a vain.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

TIA
Annie

Did you assign a drive letter to it in Disk Manager?

Thanks, but it is showing as unallocated 0 partitions. I'm working
this out now.

Annie:
I assume your motherboard is the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, right?

The fact that the HDD is being shown in Disk Management as having
"unallocated" disk space is an ominous development. It would appear that
whatever data was on that drive is now gone - perhaps the partition(s) were
inadvertently deleted or re:formatted at some point. Or is there any
possibility that the drive is a dynamic one? (I assume that disk was
originally installed in another machine?) What is indicated under "Type" in
DM for that disk?

You mentioned that you're "working this out now". Have you had any success
in resurrecting whatever data was on that disk?

Disk Management showed it as "basic" The WD drive was originally in
another 'puter running Win 98SE, with a FAT32. My current 'puter shows
in Disk Management as Disk 0/Basic/12.73GB Capacity and 12.73
unallocated/Online/IDE/MBR.

Apparently, the partition was corrupted, somehow. I was able to
recover it last night, finally, with Stompsoft's "Recover Lost
Data".It restored it to the new system-WinXPHome, ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
on the SATA drives.

Thanks for the information and being here to help.
