System File Checker usage

I have Microsoft XP Home Edition installed on my
computer. I do not have an XP Home Edition installaton
CD.

I am having issues with my XP Home installation that I
think would be resolved if I could run the system file
checker utility.

I have run this on my box with XP Pro installed and it
has worked quite well at keeping my sytem healthy and
functioning.

I do have Windows XP Professional Edition on cd and am
wanting to find out if I can use the XP Professional cd
on the XP Home Edition install to run the system file
checker utility.

Can anyone tell me if this is feasible.

Why not stick the cd in the drive and call up sfc and
see. You'll not do any harm.

My feeling is that the system will see it as an 'alien'
operating system (only a guess), but I can't see you're
any worse off trying.

I surmise that the files required are probably in exactly
the same place on Pro as they are on Home, I'm just not
sure whether they are the same versions.

So why not try it and see?
