system beeping

good morning,
yesterday after reading some posts, i tried to change my
start-up items. After that everything seemed ok. I turned
off my system at about 1:30 this morning, and when i
turned it back on at 7:45 and I get this beeping sound.
The sound went away when i pressed the tab key, then
beeped again when you get to the welcome screen where you
chhose your name. after i finished booting , a dialog box
came up and said something to the effect of safe mode and
selective start up. I clicked ok, then chose the start up
tab abd rechecked the one item I unchecked(GSTARTUP).

Ok....I did a system restore after it came up, and chose
a restore point from when i did a few windows updates on
12/10. the updates were: (recommended update Q322011,
recommended update 820291, and a security update
kb810217) after the system rebooted, I still get that
beeping sound.

Also when i clicked onto the start menu, then control
panel, the window came up but with the desktop items
instead, i clicked my computer, my music, and my pictures
and the same thing occurred. I have started the system 3
times and came up with the same results.

how do I fix this

Thank you

Look in the manual for your computer or motherboard for beep codes. The
number of beeps will tell you what is wrong. If I were to make a guess I
would say you have a RAM problem.
