syncronizing outlook folders

Hi there,
I'm just a simple student who's in school to become a school teacher, and I
am so lost, someone help!
I'm trying to figure out if there is a way in which I can get outlook to
syncronize all my info (contacts, emails, calendar, tasks, notes, etc.)
between my home computer and my laptop and my PDA. Ideally I would like to
be able to take my laptop to school and say for example add a contact to
outlook, and I would love it, if, once I bring my laptop home and it
automatically connects with my home wireless network, that it updates that
contact info on my home computer as well, without me having to do a thing.
Is this possible? If so, how?
Thanks so much,
Nate

Hi Nate,

for synchronization solutions have a look on this site:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm

Another idea is to use a USB stick and to store your PST on this USB stick,
then you could work with the same PST file on 2 PCs without synchronization,
because itis alsways the same file.

Thanks for the info. I checked out all those options, but none of them are
very convenient. It really should be much simpler than this. Within Outlook
you should be able to connect to different pst. files and tell it to auto
sync them whenever changes are made or whatever. I tried using some of those
programs, but if outlook is running on one of the computers, it won't work,
so you have to close down outlook on both, and then sync. It's just a hassle.

Hi Nate,

a PST file can not be shared (only with 3rd party Tools).

A PST file was developed from Microsoft as a "Personal STore". If you need a
network solution (and a network beginns with 2 pc) you normally have to
install Exchange Server. This is what MS want.

Another NOT supported solution is to store the PST file on a USB stick and
you can put the stick in the Notebook or in the PC, then you don´t need to
synchronize because you work only with one PST file, but this is a MS
unsupported solution.
and tell it to auto sync them whenever changes are made or whatever.

Do you know what happends if you have a 4GB PST file that you or another
user want to sync over a dial-in connection between a PC in the office and a
notebook at home? It takes hours to sync a huge numbers of items in Outlook.
so you have to close down outlook on both, and then sync

You asked for a sync solution, not for a sharing solution. ;-)

If you want to open the same PST file from the Notebook and the PC you need
a sharing solution.

You will finde some sharing tools on this site:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/share.htm

On this Microsoft site is an article on various ways to share Outlook data:

You will also find a list of third-party sharing tools:

Maybe Outlook live could be also a solution for you.
