symbol changes fonts

Hi,

I've had a lot of trouble with the font changing when i insert the symbol E
into powerpoints. I'm using ppt 2003, and the optima, urwclassicoT, and
urwclassicoK fonts. When I insert the E it is in the right font, but if I
save and close the ppt, sometimes the E changes to a different font when I
reopen the file, even on the same computer.

Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

I tried to enter the symbol capital letter E with macron (code 0112) in the
previous message but it didn't work...

I have had somewhat similar issues with Meta fonts; the best work-around I
have found is to use 'Replace Fonts' to replace each font with something
quite different. Then save it. Then use Replace Fonts again to put back the
original fonts. Then save it again.

The the trouble seems to vanish - but why, I have no idea! I hope it works
for you.

How, exactly, are you inserting the character?

I don't have the URW fonts, but do have Optima (assuming you mean Adobe's
Optima). My copy doesn't have E with macron. Depending on how you've inserted
the character, you may've inadvertently chosen a different font.

looks perfect when I insert it and then changes later if I reopen the ppt.
But your response made me wonder if maybe there is a difference when I use
Alt+I+S and just copy and paste a previously inserted symbol.

I will test it out!

There may be; especially if you choose one of the symbols from the bottom
couple rows of the Insert Symbol dialog (the recently used ones that are so
convenient). That sometimes shows characters that aren't actually in the font
you've chosen above in the dialog, so what you get is anybody's guess.
