Suggestions for which policies to try changing to resolve problem.

I have a configuration problem with SonicStage v3.2 that came with my
daughter's Sony MP3 player. I'm looking for suggestings regarding changing
some policies on my daughter's account. A more detailed description of my
situation follows.

I'm using
- XP pro with all the current updates,
- Norton Internet Secutiry with current updates,
- Cybersitter to filter my daughter's access to the internet, chat, and
filter email.

I am the administrator of the system and my daughter has a limited account.
I do not want her to be able to install programs, change system setting and
configurations other than her own.

When I'm logged in, SonicStage allows CD information to be accessed from the
internet when a cd is inserted. When my daughter logs in she cannot access
cd info from the internet.

I changed her to an administrator, and now SonicStage is able to access the
internet for CD info. The problem does not appear to be an issue with Norton
or CyberSitter since the only thing I did was change her from limited to
administrator. Her chat room, email and web access are still filtered or
restricted as before.

The only thing I could possible think of was Cybersitter was restricing
access to the URL used by SonicStage for CD info. However, all her other
access is still filtered as an administrator.

Could this be resolved by group policies? If so, which policies would you
suggest I look at changing?

Any ideas on where to look? The last thing I want to do is make her an
administrator.

It does not sound like a Group Policy issue but a permissions issue. Out of
curiosity try making her a power user instead of an administrator so see if
that works or not. If it works for a power user then the permission problem
can be resolved once you figure out what permission is needed with the
application folder in program files and the registry key for the application
under HKLM\software being the most common places to adjust permissions where
you may need to give the user full control or the same permissions that
power users group has. Other possible locations where permissions may need
to be tweaked would be a folder for the application in the program
files\common files folder or documents and settings\all users\application
data folder. -- Steve
