Sudden Shutdown when trying to install Home Edition

Okay here's my problem, just built a new machine, with a copy of Windows XP
Home Edition. Brand new key and all, my only problem is that whenever I try
to install it... get goes to that blue screen right at the beginning saying
the installing windows XP and it sets up all the components and such.
However just as its about to finish the component thing. It shuts off.
Doesn't reboot, doesn't ask about shutting down, doesnt even go into the
screen that says like it doesnt even get to the screen that asks how I want
to format my harddrive.

I've built many computers and this is the first time this has happened. I
checked another install of Windows I had lying around too, and it does the
same thing. I just dont get it. I know its not the cd, I'm thinking it
might be the hardware but I wouldnt think it would do something like this.

If it was me I'd unplug everything you can, to make this PC as straight
forward as possible... (e.g. printers, 2nd hard drives and anything else
attached)

just leave the monitor, mouse and keyboard attached.

Cheers

Also remove all but one memory module. If the problem persists, take out
that memory module and put in a different one.

Thank you all so very much, it so simple and yet I didnt think about doing
that at all. I'll try that though.
