Stoping messanger Spams

Hello everyone, I would like to know any info anyone has
on these annoying pop up ads I get while I am online.
Because I have hi speed cable connection, I get these ads
even when I am not using the internet. Before I had hi
speed, I had dial up, and at least I only got them when I
was online, but know I get them when I leave my computer
turned on even when no one is actively using the
internet. Please someone help, I have visited these web
sites that claim that their software will block these
ads, but the problem is that its that same companies that
are sending these ads that claim their software will
block their own ads??? THis sounds like a big SCAM to
me, if anyone has some advice I would appreciated very
much, I know I'm not the only one receiving these POP
UPS. THank YOU
