stop:c000021a Fatal System Error - NEED HELP!

Melissa K. Brown

Hi -

I am having an issue with this error or blue screen that I get. I got it
once or twice before but had no problems after or since until now. I have
WinXP on A Dell Demension 700mhz 500 meg of ram about 3 OR 4 years old. A
few times I could get into windows and it would start but as soon as I got
the Rundll32.exe error I would get the windows log on error. But now I can't
even get into windows. I just try to log in under my user id and it goes to
a blue screen.

I get this message when logging on to any user: Stop:C000021a [fatal system
error]

The windows log on process systemprocess terminated unexpectedly with a
status of: 0xc0000005 (0x0000000 0x0000000) The system has been shut down.

However, if I go into safe mode without networking I can get in just fine.
However I can not run a virus check because norton gives me a message about
the integrator. And AVG for windows just won't run at all. So I have no
idea and no way to get on to the internet to go to the trendmicro site to
search for a virus. Any Ideas?

I can not reinstall windows because I do not have the XP upgrade rom, nor
can I use the dell restore disk because I've since added two new devices
(more than a year or two) to my system and it would install the old drivers
for the roms and create issues. So I have no way of restoring this thing at
all. I've tried windows restore and that has not worked. I've also tried to
scan disk the computer and that has not helped as well.

I did go to the event log and this is one it said. I had a few main errors.
This is the one pertaining to the Rundll32.exe:

Faulting app rundll32.exe version 5.1.2600.0 faultingmodule
pkofmap.dllversion 0.0.0 fault address 0x00017ef4.

Here are the other messages as well when booting up as per event log:

Hope someone can help! I use the other oompuer with my busines, and need to
be able to use it.

Thanks!

Mine did not come with one. Plus I upgraded to WinXP and do not have the upgrade CD. When I originally had the new CD's put in there was major confict with the drivers. I had to take the old drivers out and put the new ones in. The only rom's that came with my system is a restore disk, actually two of them. But since the move those were lost. Even if I had them I could not install them with the new drives. The drivers would conflict again, and I had a hell of a time trying to get them to work in the first place

I've already contacted dell but since the warranty on my computer is up...there is not much that they will do

So I ether have to find someone with a full Win XP CD that will give me a copy so I can reinstall the opp or I'm going to have to find the files that are corrupt an manually reinstall those

Update

I decided to load windows in diagnostic start up. With only necessary drivers loaded. it loaded fine but I had to reactivate windows, which I did. I'm going into the services tab and adding them one by one to see which one is having the issues. And ehich ever ones are having the issues will not be selected

My guess is it has something to do with the network. I didn't have any of these issues until I installed the network. New networking drivers may have to be installed. Because if I go into safe mode with networking I have the same issues. so that clues me in that it has to do with the networking aspct

Okay. I've narrowed it down. It's my DHCP that's causing the issue. Why I have no idea. I tried reinstalling home networking and insalling the driver for my wireless network card. That didn't help. The only other thing I'm going to do is taking the dhcp drivers off this computer and replacing them on that computer.

does anyone know how to reinstall a dhcp?

Thanks!
