Startup scripts not running

I have a problem with several XP SP2 PCs not running the startup scripts set
by their GPOs. There are about a dozen PCs in the room that get the same
policies but 3 of them won't run some of the scripts.

There are several scripts set for startup, some are batch files and a couple
are VBS scripts. It is the VBS scripts that fail to run. The only errors I
get are the Event ID Error Cannot run the specified script: scriptname.vbs

I can't find errors anywhere else, these PCs are all identical and work OK
in every other respect. Any changes made the the policies take effect
straight away so I don't think its a network issue.

The two scripts that fail are simple scripts to a) copy a non-system file
across if it missing and b) delete certain folders if they are present. These
scripts run on over 400 other computers on the network without any issues!

Is there anywhere else I can find out why the scripts generate the error?
I've run the scripts interactively logged in as and Admin user and they work
fine.

Do you see anything interesting in rsop.msc ? gpresult ?

You might post in microsoft.public.windows.group_policy for more specific
help.

Its a strange one because RSOP and GPResult both show the correct settings
and no errors - just like the machines that work OK.

Its on the .vbs scripts that fail, the other batch files are running and
software installations are working too.
