Start Up Items

Richard

If I go to...
Advanced Tools > System Explorer > Start Up Programs

.... it lists the startup programs in the "All Users"
startup folder ... but there is no corresponding
information for startup programs in the Current User's
Startup folder...

Why?

The categories I see there are Registry Local Machine Run,
Registry Current User Run,
Winlogon Userinit
Winlogon Shell.

Thanks... I see these ...but I also see (at the top of
the list):
"All Users Startup Folder"
....which makes sense.

BUT it does NOT have
"Current User Startup Folder"

I wonder why? And I wonder if that folder is being
monitored?

There is not support in this beta one release for multiple or limited
accounts.

Which build of Microsoft Antispyware--.501 or .509? (see help, about)

Windows 2000 or Windows xp? I'll try to look at some more machines and see
whether I can spot why the difference. It may very well be that a given
folder isn't displaying if nothing is in there--so this is a design
choice--are we more "comfortable" with the result if we can see that the
tool is looking in all the corners? Bear in mind that there are a LOT of
corners to look in, going by say, silentrunner.vbs results.

Build is 1.0.509
Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2, toally up to date...

I do have many things in my "current" users StartUp
Folders (different things for different users)...
certainly these should be just as significant as items in
the "all users" startup...

Interesting--so we are running the same build on the same platform, and
seeing different stuff here. I agree that all the startup items are
significant. I've no idea why this will look different from one machine to
another--I'll start looking at some other machines, but I probably won't get
to it 'til this evening, unless I can spot some offices with machines not in
use and get at them remotely.
