DLBTCATS

Steffo

Hello.

Checking my startup folder in MSAS/Advanced Tools/System Explorers/Startup
Programs, I found DLBTCATS rundll32,
spool\drivers\W32X86\3\DLBTtime.dll RunDLLEntry@16.
Does anyone know what is it and if should it be in the startup folder?

Thanks, Steffo

Hi Steffo

With it having Spool in the entry it idicates a start up entry for your
Printer and I believe it's connected to Dell's Photo AIO Printer 922 so I
would leave it in place.

Thanks Andy.
I understand it's part of that printer installation but what I don't
understand is why I had that printer for 3 months and this is a 5 days old
entry in my startup folder.
Since it has been there, I'm getting a "GUI debug" error when I print a page
from Works, Word, Excel, Notepad, Wordpad (printing is fine from OE and IE).
Do you think there's a connection between the DLBTCATS and the GUI error?

Hi Again Steffo,

Dell would be in a better position to answer this question

It depends on your setup and if you have more than one computer setup to use
the printer, It could be a problem with remote printing or the printer driver
CD might have corrupted drivers or there is conflicts with the printer driver
that is already installed on one of your pc's.

Here something thats worth a try if the problem continues :

Put in the Dell Printer Driver CD.

Select Uninstall Printer Driver or Uninstall Printer Software. (Or use the
uninstall link from the start menu all programs bar, or the Start Menu >
Control Panel > Add/Remove programs screen whichever is present for this AOI
printer)

After uninstallation, it will ask for a restart, before restarting, unplug
all the cables on the printer.

After restarting, connect all the cables of the printer.

Found new hardware wizard will come up, let the wizard install the Printer
Driver automatically.

After installation, Test the printing again without using the Printer Driver
CD and see if you can then print without receiving this GUI Debug error. Plug
n play rules )

Then Id recommend contacting Dell to answer questions on whats causing this
error or why DLBTCATS has only just been added as a start up entry :

Hello Andy, thank you very much, you gave me the right input to solve 2
problems at the same time.

In my laptop I had installed the printer and then I was also using the same
printer remotely through a home network connection (I could only print
emails and web pages, any try to print a document would lead to a GUI debug
error).
Also, MSAS told me about a new entry in my startup file: the DLBTCATS.
I followed your suggestion and uninstalled the printer, leaving only the
virtual printer wireless connected through the wi-fi router to my main PC
and that same printer.
Rebooted, now it works just fine with all printings, no more GUI debug
errors and the DLBTCATS startup entry has disappeared in the MSAS/Advanced
Tools/System Explorers/Startup Programs.
I guess I cannot connect the printer directly to my laptop anymore and I can
use it only through the home network: however, I'm wondering why I can't
have both possibilities.

Andy, thank you again and keep up with the good work.

Cheers,

Steffo

Hey Steffo

No Problem, Its nice to hear it solved the error :)

Its still worth contacting Dell and giving them details of the AIO model and
your current setup, GUI debug error would mean alot more to them than it does
to me so they may have fixes in place to resolve the problem, I've never used
Dell so I'm not sure if they offer free support but if they do its worth
asking thier advise on this.

All The Best

Andy
