Hello.
I have Toshiba notebook model: Toshiba Satelitte S1800-911. It comes with
preinstalled Windows XP home edition without any service packages because its
bought 3 years ago. And it work perfect. Now I had have to install some
software and for that I had needed Windows XP Professional SP2. After the
installation I have stand-by problem. When i close the lid it goes to
standby, but when I open it my display is black, the fan start working but
nothing else, soo I have to reboot my laptop. Can anybody help me!?

Best regards,

You've visited Toshiba site for any updates for your specific model?
Do NOT use winudate for drivers.

Yes, I know that. I'm not rookie with using PC and WinXP. First of all I
thougt that and i had visited the site of Toshiba. But my notebook model is
very old. Three years +.. So I could not find something intersting for my
problem. I even can't find driver for my Graphic card. Maybe that's the
problem. I found one driver over the internet but that was for NEC notebook,
not for Toshiba, nothing on the Toshiba website. The driver is funcioning
well, but maybe cause problem with the stand by mode? What you think?
My graphic card is Trident CyberAladin, that I read it from the Toshiba web
site. And also it's old display adapter soo it's very hard to find drivers
for it.
Everything would help. Please help. :)

I found lots of things for your s1800-911 laptop at toshiba europe,
drivers for display, IRdA, lan, bios updates, etc.
Url is something like this
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

I had that exact problem once with my tosh after doing soemthing and forget
how I fixed it
Lots of help huh.

However, you might look in your bios settings and also the control panels
Toshiba Power Saver and maybe change the lid switch to something else,
reboot then change it back again. I may have loaded hdwe controls
again or did a bios setting.

I used the button near the power button that launches IE to wake it up for a
while until I took the time to find the fix which was quick and easy. How
do you know it is really in standby if the lid is closed. ;)
