Spyware

I have Windows XP Home. I am a computer beginner. Recently an unwanted
program has been repeatedly installing itself on my computer. It is "SpyAxe"
an antivirus and antispyware program (would you believe!). Both my Microsoft
antispyware and also my Spybot recognise this as a high level spyware and
they will always remove it except for the icon on the toolbar.
Unfortunately SpyAxe continues to re-install itself.
Can anyone please advise how to get rid of the toolbar icon and also how to
get rid of the program for good.

If you have SpyAxe, PSGuard, Smitfraud, Sinnaka Advertisments or detections
for Puper or Alemod that can not seem to be removed automatically, please
try this automated removal tool.

AntiPuper v1.1 by secured2k
http://secured2k.home.comcast.net/tools/AntiPuper.exe

What does this tool do?
This tool will attempt to delete several known Trojan files. These files are
modified by the malware authors and encrypted to avoid detection.
Fortunately, many of these tend to use the exact same file names. If the
files are in use, locked, protected, etc, this program will schedule Windows
to remove the files upon restarting.

This program will also remove some common security policies that are changed
by viruses and worms. Policies that lock out your desktop changes, windows
update, Windows Firewall, Explorer Run policies, Registry editing, and more
are all reset.

Finally, if you have an infected Alemod WININET.DLL file, this program will
try to copy a clean version from your Windows File Protection folder and
replace the bad copy on restart. If a backup copy can not be found, the tool
will quickly look for McAfee Antivirus files and attempt to clean a copy of
the file to replace the bad one on reboot. If all of this fails, you will
need to manually replace/clean your WININET.DLL file.

Thank you Julie and guest user. Julie's "AntiPuper" seemed to be the answer
for me in only a few minutes. This after a day and a half of trial and
error. I followed up with a Spybot search that destroyed some remnants.
Also the toolbar icon has disappeared.
Many thanks.

I got hit with Spyaxe and its Trojan cohort 2 days ago.I tried manual and
other removals to no avail. Finally tried this:
http://www.infopackets.com/channels...051220_remove_spyaxe_removal_instructions.htm

It involved a few Demo downloads of Spyware and Malware scanning programs
but it cured my PC with WinXP running.Follow the directions closely.
Been running smoothely and all the System32 registeries are clean now of
Spyaxe foolishness. All needs links to demo programs are included also on
that site.

Hope this helps

You're Welcome.

And here lies the problem - PCBUTTS1, hiding as Julie, is being thanked
for providing a fix using a tool that PCBUTTS1 didn't create.

The author of the tool is never given credit for the work they've done,
never thanked, and people go on ignorantly thinking that PCBUTTS1
morphed as who-knows-what is the one that actually fixed the problem.

The real author of the FIX and SOLUTION can be found here:

You sound like a jealous little boy, I did not see your offer of help. She
did not claim she created anything yet you are trying to cause trouble. I
have seen many posts with links to other sites and files yet you always jump
on her. You are disrupting this news group and I would appreciate it if you
would stop. All I see is you replying to this person, who cares what name
she uses the information she gives is correct. I believe her when she says
you are stalking her and I don't believe anything you say.

Leythos is obsessed with me. He has a problem and does not know it.

The solution was already presented by others, there was no need to add
anything, it would have been redundant.

Yes, it's not a She, it's PCBUTTS1 morphing as usual, since his posts
are being deleted from the MS Usenet Servers because of his actions and
ethics.

Those people have permission to host the files or are the owners of the
files/works in question - PCBUTTS1 (Chris) has never created anything
and has been asked to STOP hosting vendors files by the vendors.

You are entitled to your "opinion".
