I have suffered much the past week with a nasty piece of spyware.
Everytime i turn on the pc, at least 7 iexplorer processes are started up.
Microsoft Antispyware beta will catch at least three or four different
items, sometimes more...these range from the infamous ist toolbar, media
motor etc.
Hijack this catches more of the same as does spy bot search and destroy.
The problem is no matter how many times i update and rerun these
anti-spyware programs, the real downloader is never discovered and the
toolbars and media motor are resinstalled everytime i reboot. No matter how
often i uninstall it, Startup.NameShifter.HN(Trojan) is detected by
Antispyware beta.
I have done some of my own digging and found that pieces of the dr. smart
downloader (c.bat, cash.exe, b.exe among others) keep regenerating themselves
everytime i restart. I have to delete these manually as well as their
registry entries.
The easiest solution would be to rebuild this computer but i would prefer to
find out who wrote these programs and to give them a little gift of sorts.
