I try to update the Antispyware definitions on 2 computers. The original
version of these 2 computers are the same, but one says I can update but the
other says there is no update for the software. And eventually after I
updated the definitions for the 2 computers shows the differenct no. on the
same day. How could be it happen?

If you experience problems with the update of the signatures (definitions)
do the following:

Clean the temp folders (usually C:\Documents and Settings\username\local
settings\temp and c:\Documents and Settings\username\local
settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 and delete all the files in
those directories and subdirectories). Then try to perform the update again.

If it does not help, there is a manual update procedure. Follow these steps:

Right click on MSAS icon within systray and choose shutdown.

Right click and "Save target as..."

Copy/paste these files to Program files/Microsoft Antispyware

Restart MSAS and "check for updates"

If the http:// does not work, try https:// instead..

Just to double check--are both of these machines running version 1.0.615 of
Microsoft Antispyware? See Help, about.

OK--so it isn't a difference in the Microsoft Antispyware code version that
is causing this discrepancy.

How are they doing now?
