Suddenly all these things have begun to happen.
New Icons labeled Kill Viruses, Kill Spyware, etc. etc. have appeared on my
desktop
A window keeps popping up saying I have spyware and click yes to remove it.
You need to click No about 10 times before it stops bothering you.
In IE6, on doing searches you get this "helpful" window you never requested,
giving you "Related Links" - the window has no title or identification.
On ordinary web pages, such as Yahoo News, all words or parts of words that
could be construed as "adult" or "dating" oriented are highlighted. If you
click on one you are likely to find yourself on a porn site.
A program has already installed itself and is busy "zapping" pop-ups, or so
it says, with a very loud zapping sound.
I would appreciate any reccomendations as to the best way to remove all this
junk and prevent it from coming back.
I am keeping current with Windows Updates and Norton Anti-virus; although I
did open up my home network to file and print sharing, with both computers
accessing the Internet and each other through a router. There was a warning
that this particular setup could be a security risk.
Guess, I'm looking for a program to remove and block this stuff. If I use
MS Personal Firewall, it shuts down my file sharing.
Thanks in advance for any help.
