SP2 - windows opens and stay blank

When I am surfing a web site and cick for added info (ie example
windows update site) a smalled pop up window opens and the windows
shows busy but nothing ever happens...

the window just sits there open and blank..
I have shut off pop up blocker no change made the site ok with pop up
blocker no change and even played with the java settings no chancge..
any ideas??

If you will look closely at the top of your screen, you will see a new row
(bar) that tells you what is going on. Something is being blocked. Right
click on this bar, and then you can select to do several things.

I see the bar but that is what I was tryin gto say is that it does not
apppear to be a pop up blocker but instead some type of java error or
block. I am not getting any pop up.. On Fri, 20 Aug 2004 10:51:56

Been playing a little more.. When I try to "open in a new window" it
stops right away.. smaller window opnes totally blank and just sists
there on bottom of forst page it says "error on page"

If I cut and paste the link to a new window it works fine.. sure
weird...

any ideas??

Try holding the Ctrl key down when you click on the link, Ctrl
temporarily disables the pop-up blocker, allowing the window to open
normally.

Tnx for the try but no improvement. I really do nt think it s pop up
bloacker as I have even turned it totally off although the windows
looke like that a windows with no URL line etc just a border and stays
blank .. The ctrl key did not help..

Well, it really seems to point to something that is peculiar to your
computer. No one else has reported having this problem, so it surely points
to a problem with your computer. Whether the installation of SP2 caused it,
or just brought it to the forefront, it most likely is something that is
isolated to your computer only.

Since you have tried everything suggested with no improvement, then the only
solution may be a re-format of the hard drive, and completely new
installation of XP then SP2. Sometimes it just takes something this drastic
to correct problems.

I may end up doing that but what bothers me is that the firefox
browser works good .. willkeep looking thanks
