Open in New Window broken

Hi,

system: XP SP2 all updates except ie7.
Firefox installed and set as default browser
pop-up blocker off
google toolbar installed but pop-up blocker off.

When I click on a link that opens in a new window or right-click and
select a link to open in a new window, the window may quickly appear
and disappear.

I've tried hunting it down using filemon/regmon/ and new procmon to no
avail. I can see IE check the cache for the page, I can see the pop-up
blocker allow the site and then I see HKCU\Software\Classes\.htm get a
"NAME NOT FOUND" error.

I can send an output of Process Monitor if anyone wants to view it.

I'm stumped. I'm seeing this on two systems.

Hi,
This sounds like the work of Ad-aware Pro- Adwatch- the "Block pop-ups"
feature. It sometimes allows a window to open momentarily before closing it.

Thanks for your reply. That wasn't it. I removed Adaware SE and
rebooted and the behaviour is still the same.

Bloody frustrating.

A followup to this problem.

I installed all the latest updates that got released this week. The
problem
has gone away. One of the updates was to IE.

VERY strange.
