SP2 Upgrade Problems

When I installed SP2, it seems that it shut down every program that's
embedded in windows. I can't even get "My Computer" to open. Whenever I try
to start it or other programs, like Internet Explorer, it just goes to
hourglass for a few seconds and then I get nothing. However, I can start
other programs (I was able to send this question using a third-party web
browser). I would love to do a system restore, but that's yet another
program that won't start now. Please let me know if you have any solutions
for this problem.

Restore your system with the backup you did before you loaded SP2.

Wot, no backup?
I'll bet you start doing backups after this!

Why does it always a take a disaster to press home the necessity of doing
regular backups?

Good Luck,
Barry.

Was the system running well and clean of malware before SP2 was applied?
Yes to both of those is imperative.
