SP2 DSL and Local Area Connection

After successfully downloading SP2, my task bar shows both my DSL connection
and a Local Area Connection. The Local Area Connection status indicates
"Limited or no connectivity". This icon wasn't there before my download.
What's it doing there? How do I remove it? I disabled it but lost my
connection. Thanks in advance for your help.

Click on start--control panel--network connection--select local area
connection--right click on it--click on properties-- uncheck show icon on the
taskbar.
