Sounds

Desperate

I have "No Sounds" under my "start>settings>contol
panel>sounds and multimedia" enabled,
running 2000 prof with all updates and have tried almost
everything. This is the most annoying thing I can imagine
as I like listening to music a lot and can't get rid of
these rather loud "navigation noises" when using IE6.
From what I can remember it never happened in my "old"
analog sound configuation as you could separate "CD Audio"
from the "Wave/MP3" volume controls. Since enabling
digital from the Cd player to the sound card it lumps it
all together?!? It seems that there may be a connection
there? However, it still would not solve the problem when
listening to WAV files off the hard disk. I have tried
the "Tools>Internet Otions>advanced" settings as well to
no avail and so am reduced to hoping that someone here in
cyberspace has the answer or at least some more
suggestions as I am completely dumbfounded and all
searches or Knowledge Base articles shed absolutely no
light on this whatsoever. I can't imagine I am the only
one to suffer this fate??? It also happens on all the
other PC's I have at work so it seems to be firmly
pointing the finger at Microsoft?!? Dare I say that
here?!?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who takes on this
challenge!

Are you simply trying to get rid of the navigation "click", while still
being able to listen to audio? You could go to Start > Settings > Control
Panel > Sounds and Multimedia and head towards the bottom of the list.
Click "Start Navigation" in the Windows Explorer section, click in the
drop-down, and select None. HTH.

I had a similar situation. Seems some web site set
my "Theme" to blank. I had absolutely no sound from
anything until I selected a theme.

You may have to set up your own "sound scheme" call
it "NO SOUND AT ALL" for example and then in program
events set each one manually to "no sound" It may take a
little while to set each and every one but this may work
for you :)
