annoying alert sounds on IE 6

I can't listen to music while on the internet because I'm bombarded with an
annoying noise whenever I click on something in a web page. It's a loud
"bwoop" sound that forces me to turn off the speakers. I disabled all of the
windows sounds (start-up, shut-down, error sounds, etc.) but this one
persists. It seems to be a security alert, because when I roll the security
settings up to maximum, it goes away. Once I do that, most web sites won't
let me in, though. Any ideas?

Look for "Turning off PestPatrol Sounds"

If not PestPatrol, check settings of other third-party security/privacy
programs.
