Sort contacts by First Last

Guest

I have imported contacts from Outlook Express.
It has sorted all my contacts by Last First

I went into:
On the Tools menu, click E-mail accounts.
Click View or change existing directories or address books, and then click
Next.
Click Outlook Address Book, and then click Change.
Under Outlook Address Books, click Contacts: Mailbox - YourMailboxName, and
then under Show names by, click File As (John , Smith).
Click Close, and then click Finish.

However, they are all still showing up as Last First
I have closed, reopned Outlook still the same.

Ahh

Seems to me that since you configured Outlook to sort by the File As field,
you should examine your File As fields.
Outlook is doing exactly what you told it to by your description. Did you
misstate something here?

In my Contacts all users are showing as
Last, First

I want to view them as First Last

Under Show names by I have it set to
First Last

But they are still showing the other way

Get it straight.
First you said you had it set to show by File As...
Now you say First, Last.
Which is it really?
You need to restart Outlook before you'll see any changes.

Hi Russ,

Sorry, I am a beginner. I am trying to show all my contacts by First Last
but I can't get it to work.

What is the best way to do it without doing them 1 by 1?

Thanks
Rich

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there
to First Last.
Restart Outlook.
If it does not work, then your underlying Contact Records have their first
and last names switched.
