I'm trying it out just for the heck of it. It works very well here, on a
DSL connection. So far I'm liking the big preview pane.

Does it have built-in support for yEnc?

Sophax is PAINFULLY slow on my 300MHz 256Mb WinME box. Uninstalling it now and
staying with XNews. Many, many more features with XNews too.

I was using xNews but am trying out XanaNews which I like better than
xNews. It is a little more user-friendly than xNews

I was offline for almost 24 hours so didn't see your post until now, but
I see that your question has already been answered. I doubt I'll be
using it much because I can't scroll through posts like I can in
Thunderbird. It does scroll, but won't download message bodies when I
scroll down through headers using the "down" arrow.

I use 40tude Dialog here, but am (of course) always on the qui vive for
anything that might be better. I have yet to discover anything that even
comes close to being as good, never mind better.

You are a wise open-minded man. Keep trying Xananews and learn all
its useful features. There is also a lively support forum where the
author is always present.

I plan on using XanaNews as my default newsreader for a while ;)
So far-so good! I got a lot of flack the other day in alt.windows-xp
about using a real newsreader like XanaNews instead of the piece of
shit OE6. Oh well they can keep patching OE if they wish.

I liked OE very much and it took quite a bit for me to switch. None of
the other newsreaders suited me until I tried Xananews.
