SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS

i recently set up a wireless network using a linksys
WRT54G as my router. I have one desktop wired and it
works fine. I also have a wireless notbook that works
fine. A third wireless desktop is not working well at
all. I installed a linksys WMP54G wirless card on the
wirless desktop and everything was fine at first. I
connected to the internet just fine. I started to set up
the network so i could file share etc. and had to install
NetBEUI and IPX/SPX/NetBIOS in my local area connection
properties on both desktops to use the network. I dont
know if doing this had anything to do with my problem, but
after this my wireless desktop did not work with the
internet at all. I could share printers and files and
what not but could not acces the internet. I called
Linksys about eight times and have spent about four hours
with tech support for the last two days, i put in the ip
adress in manually and everything, it still connects to
the network, but not the internet. I removed my anitvirus
software and firewall software, MCCAFFE, and it still has
not helped anything. Someone please shed some light on
this for me asap before i go insane. ps, the wired
desktop is running 2000 professional, the wireless
notebook is running XP and the problamatic wireless
desktop is running 2000 professional as well. Someone
please help me i cannot deal with Linksys's outsourcing to
india tech support another second, im going insane.

You should connect only the problematic desktop to the router to begin with.
Disable all encryption, firewalls, zonealarm, avirus, etc. Make sure you
have a good STRONG SIGNAL and begin the setup process. Things to watch for
are the MAC filtering and of course manually assign IP/DNS in both the
router and desktop. Once you get all connections full access to the
internet, then begin the local net sharing settings one at a time making
sure the internet access remains valid. ***Why the NetBEUI, IPX/SPX??** If
you still can't connect, switch the wireless card to the other desktop. This
should verify that the card is not defective. If the card works fine,
suspect the router and look for a firmware upgrade. Try several different
IP's in the subset range before condemning the router.

The first guy gave some good advice. Why IPX/SPX would be my question also. One thing you should check if you don't have it working yet is to make sure the wirless desktop that is causing problems is using TCP/IP. With IPX/SPX you would be able to talk to the other PCs but not the internet. The internet does not speak the IPX/SPX language, only TCP/IP. Good luck.

Hello All,

In addition to making sure that TCP is in use, check the default gateway
and make sure that it is pointing to the router to the internet.
