some programs won't install on XP but no problem on Win98

I downloaded PartitionMagic 8.0 on my old Win98 computer and copied it to a
flash drive and plugged the flash drive into my new Win XP computer. I used
Winzip95 to unzip it to a temp folder on the C: drive and doubleclicked
setup.exe. It gave an error msg about a cab file being corrupt. But I had no
problem installing it on my Win98 computer. Same thing with the AVG 7.0
program that I had on my flash drive. It won't install on WinXP. How do I
make it work so I can install these programs?

It's not just PM8, but other programs such as AVG and ATT connection manager
that I have no problem installing on Win 98. I copied these to the hard
drive but it gives a corrupt file message when I try to install. Any insight
on this would be greatly appreciated. thanx.

So what happens if you use some other method of copying the zip/setup
files - ie not your flash drive.

If you have winzip you can create a set of floppies
Try it with the samallest file first.
