Some Https sites will not load (IE6 SP1 128bit on XP Pro)

I have a WinXP Pro SP1a machine with IE6 SP1 128bit encryption and the
most recent hotfixes. Most https pages load just fine, however there
are several that won't load. I noticed that most of them are bank
websites and pages that require some sort of authentication.

I've been reading posts on this problem all day, but I haven't found a
definitive solution. From what I've read, it seems likely that I've
applied a hotfix that caused this, but I don't have an earlier version
to compare my setup to. This has been happening long enough that I
can't restore to a previous configuration. Here are some additional
facts that might help:

- My time and time zone are correct
- Other machines on my network can access these sites
- Removing Hotfix Q329115 doesn't appear to do anything
- The other hotfixes MS sugguests won't run on the workstation. They
tell me I need SP1 (even though I have it).
- The About screen does list 128 bit encryption (not 0 bit)
- Version Info (From the About screen)
Version: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633
Cipher Strength: 128-bit
Update Versions:; SP1; Q832894; Q831167

Does anyone have any thoughts? Anything would be appreciated.

What about Q837009 you should have that in the about box too, unfortunatly I no nothing about the update you mention (Hotfix Q329115) do u use liveupdate or do you just choose what to have?

I noticed that sometimes I cant access some sites but that is either because the server hosting them is overloaded or the site itself is down.

the other thing to look at is you internet connection/server may be preventing u from accesing these sites.

I presume that u have enabled ckookies for these sites since some wont load at all without this.

A firewall may just cause this to happen if there are trojans or viruses attacking ports on systems accessing some sites.

whatever you do dont acept own site plugin installing, they all invariably contain malicious code which causes avoc.

Dont download any Zilla software it contains adware/spyware.

Hope this goes anywhre in ways to help you sort this.

I have had the same problem. On one occassion I was able
to enable TLS 1.0 under Internet Options, Advanced, and
Security. This fixed the problem for one site, but hasn't
for others. I am hoping Microsoft will have an update to
fix this apparent "bug". Anyway, maybe that setting will
help.

I have all the updates to both IE6 and Xp, but I find that invariably you must set your browser to accept cookies if these page are to load at all... Most will warn you of this , some wont...

I have found that Firewall will block acess to certain sites since they have, either caused infections to visiting systems by trojan or virus means.

If neither of these solution appear to work, there is another cause for this.
programs like Adaware will block sites from loading from pretty much the same reasons I gave for the firewall.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that the server hosting these sites might be down or the sites themselves are down for updates or the last and most common case is the lack of supporting software/actvex/java/flash.

Other than this I doubt that an update may cause this unles any of you guys have a trojan at work...
