some errors occurred

I'm running Vista with Windows Mail. Every time I start up the mail program I
get a "some errors occurred etc" regarding an old message. Also I get "there
are messages in your outbox" every time I exit. I can't get rid of either of
these windows. There are no messages in my outbox. How do I delete these
annoying notifications? Thanks, Spike

I am using the one installed in my new Dell laptop. Trend Micro PC-cillin
Internet Security 8.550.1001/5.209.00
I disabled both the "scan incoming" and "scan outgoing" messages thinking
that would help - to no avail. Thanks "Bob"

A recent version of the Trend antivirus program (details not available)
tend to cause assorted problems in Windows Mail. So do most versions
of the Norton and McAfee antivirus programs. For these programs,
disabling part or all of the program seldom helps; they need to be
uninstalled
instead. You may then need to remove your email account under Windows
Mail, then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.

Click on the Outbox, then View, then Current View, then Show All
Messages and see if it makes any messages you have already read
show up. If it does, click on Tools, then Options, then Send. If there
is no check mark in the box before Send Messages Immediately,
click on this box, then Apply. Click on OK. Click on Tools, then
Synchronize All. Wait until this finishes, then restart Windows
Mail.

If there are still any messages in the Outbox, try to move them to
the Drafts folder or delete them. Let us know if any refuse to do
either.

When the problem is cured, we'll recommend some replacement
antivirus programs that don't cause such problems.

I was able to delete the troublesome message with the first suggestion you
made. Thanks. It seems too easy

Thanks Bob. I was able to delete the troublesome message. Hopefully this easy
fix will work. I'm a hopeless optomist!

You're welcome.

If you mean the first suggestion below, you may now want a replacement
antivirus program that doesn't cause such problems. Do you?

Although I can send and receive e-mails via live mail from my gmail
account, i get this error everytime i send/receive. Can anyone tell me
how to make it go away.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Gmail account. Header
download for the '[Gmail]' folder did not complete. Could not select
'[Gmail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your folder list
to synchronize with the IMAP server.

Server Response: Unknown Mailbox: [Gmail] (Failure)
Server: 'imap.gmail.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCCD2
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): Yes

You're likely to get answers for Windows Live Mail problems
faster if you ask in the newsgroup meant for such things:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop
