Some advice about Laptops

Hi (sorry to be off topic)

I have asked this question here because I know I'll
get impartial advice.

My question is about the mouse/pointing device/touch pad.

I am interested in a Toshiba Laptop (PRO L10). The advert/picture shows
what looks like a flat 2" pad.

However, reading up on Toshiba, it says that that company
prefer to use a 'pointing device'.

Can a pointing device still look like a touch pad?

Sorry if this sound like a stupid question, but I haven't got a clue
what pointing device looks like.

Thanks in advance - regards, Stephen

Any device that moves the mouse cursor around is the pointing device. A
touchpad is one such pointing device.

Believe the context of the printed or otherwise material from Toshiba's
opinion on using a pointing device is important. Not just a glib gathered
from it.

As Glen said, the touchpad is the pointing device. I just wanted to
mention that my experience with Toshiba laptops is that of all the
laptops I've worked on (and I've worked on a *lot* of laptops), Toshiba
preinstalls theirs with the most cr*p and trial version software of any
of the big OEM's. So if you do buy a Toshiba, make sure you optimize
its startup and installed program base after you get it.
