Hello John,

Ports are often used to route traffic in a particular manner.Different
services and applications listen on a particular port for network traffic.

For example:

HTTP traffic uses TCP port 80
HTTPS traffic uses TCP port 443
SMTP traffic uses TCP Port 25
POP3 traffic uses TCP port 110.

Etc, Etc : )

It sounds as if you may have a firewall of some sort running that is not
allowing the traffic through on port 10041.

It could be Windows XP's built in Internet Connection Firewall, a 3rd party
firewall, or a hardware router/firewall.
If it is Windows XP's firewall, you can use the following article to open
the port:

308127 How to Manually Open Ports in Internet Connection Firewall in Windows
XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=308127

If it is not, then you will need to contact the manufacturer of your
firewall for instructions on opening the port with their product.

Hope this helps!
