So many Canon models

Does anyone have an explanation of why Canon puts out so many quite similar
Inkjet Models?
My S750 still is a champ. But because they are no longer available I've used
several later models which seem very much the same.

A. Why do so many consumer electronics companies put out new products within
a short space of time...because some ppl are stupid enough to buy the
'upgraded' model.

I'm not immune. My Epson 915 produces prints which in my opinion are in many
ways inferior to my old 4 ink 880.
