Speed up Canon IP4500? / printer for direct to disc printingsuggestion?

Hi recently purchased a Canon IP4500 printer ONLY for printing DVD/CDs
for wedding videos and other small projects. The print quality is
fantastic on all discs be it Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden Watershield
discs. The only problem I have with the printer is the start up time.

Normally it will take up to 60 seconds or longer to start up from
turning on the unit. I would be ok with this if i just left it on all
the time, however, when i click print, it goes through a similar
process and pushes the CD tray out a few times then finally after
about 60 seconds finally takes it in and prints the disc, which
usually takes less than a minute.

I am pleased with the quality of the actual print and speed of the
actual print, however it takes about 2 min of unnecessary time to
print the first. After a few copies it is ok, however it still pushes
the tray out a few times before it will take it in.

I have had HP printers before, but at the time i purchased the IP4500,
it was the only one in its price range that could print directly to cd/
dvds. There are now more models from HP and canon and epson that can
print directly to disc.

I am wondering if there is a driver setting/version or firmware
upgrade that can keep this unit from being sooo slow to start to print
every time. I am using MAC OSX 10.5 Leopard on an Intel IMac.

While i am asking, anyone have any suggestions about what to use for
inkjet printing on discs? I do not mind the manual process of putting
the cds on the tray but the speed and price of cartridges is important
to me. Has anyone used the Dymo discpainter?

Thanks
Mark

Well it must have been a driver issue. I recently formatted my mac and
installed the latest driver from canon. It is so much faster starting
up the print process. Liking this printer a lot more now heh ;)

Thanks
