Smilies in Outlook Editor

I use Outlook 2003 (or Office 11). I always type a :
and ) for a smiley, and it appears as colon and smiley,
but i want this to appear as a smiley face instead of the
characters. I tried so hard to find the information on
where to set this, or what is the setting difference
between mine and my peers who get the actual smiley face,
but with no luck.

Can anyone tell me how to get a Smiley face instead of
the characters: ":" and a ")"?

Thanks,
Ram

The easiest way is to type in :) in your message body and
then change the email format to plain text. This will
change the :) to the smiley face. Or at least it works in
Outlook 2000. You could also copy the smiley face
character using the character map program and then paste
it into your email text. Character Map is under
start\programs\accessories\system tools. If not there, use
add remove windows components to install it.
