SLOW TEXT INPUT & SCROLLING ON IE 6.0

This is driving me nuts. When I type or click on
checkboxes in Internet Explorer 6, it takes forever for
the text, etc. to fill in after the cursor. Scrolling also
lags behind.

I'm on cable internet, shared with several other
housemates who don't have this problem.

Please help!
