Slow IE 6.0 Browser Problem

The speed of my IE browser is very slow even though it has a hardline hookup
to a router with a broadband hookup to the internet. I have another newer
computer, on the same network, with a new installation of Windows and IE
6.0, which works fine and pages comeup very fast. Surfing is a breeze on
that computer. On the older one the pages come up so slowly (even when the
other computer is turned off) it's driving me crazy. Why does one IE
browser work fine and the other work so slow on the same high speed hookup
to the internet?

Hi Jurycon

You don't mention what version of Windows you are using on the other
machine, or the version of IE (Sp1, Sp2), but, you might try the following
and see if it helps:

First: Clear TIF's:

Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files

then check the following:

also...if it applies, you might also try:

SP2 has options for internet browsing & email to "Set Program Access and
Defaults" You have to be logged on as the Administrator, then click
Start>click "Set Program Access and Defaults> Customize, then change to
Internet Explorer & see if that works better. If not, just change it back.
