SLOW RUNNING

My XP seems to be running very slow. Takes an age to close down apps etc. It
used to be quite quick. What can I do to improve it?

I have a firewall and I have had no viruses etc

i am tired of these responses of web here and there.
sometimes you just have t save your work to a disk, flooopy and reinstall
the OS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 NO WWW.YADA.YADA.COM HERE

There may be several reasons behind a slow computer.
Download,install and run with latest versions of Adaware/Spybot Search
And Destroy in Safe Mode.
Delete all temp. files,including temp.internet files,cookies etc.
Defrag your disk.

You didn't mention your hardware specs.
