I have 4 Windows 2000 pro computers connecting to a
Windows nt4 Sp6a server. One of these computers browses
network drives very slowly. If I enter a files from a
mapped drive in the run command no delay occurs. I have
WINS running on the server and all addresses are DHCP.

Only the browsing through explorer is slow. If i DIR the
folder or mapped drive it's fine. I tried the namespace
fix from microsoft for the task scheduler, but that didn't
change anything. Any ideas?

This is a very common problem in a mixed network ( NT with W2K)
Please take a look in your wins, i thinks the " master browser" is
w2k system, this wil cause the problems off slow network browsing.
the only sollution is to upgrade your nt server to windows 2000
because if you delete the master browser in the wins it wil come bac
after a short time.

Good luck

Stop and disable Computer Browser service on all the workstations, leave it
running on the servers only.
