Slow boot with norton antivirus

Ian

After installing norton anti virus 2003 the system takes
about 2 mins to boot fully. I tried disabling ccRegVfy
and ccApp but still occurs. The only way to make it boot
normally is disabling Symantec Event Manager but then
anti virus is disabled. I looked in the event viewer but
no problems are shown. Would be gratefull for any help.

In response to Bill Crocker's answer - I have Norton Internet Security 2004
and have the same problem as Ian; however, I can't seem to find any way to
"tell it not the scan the drive upon boot-up", as suggested. Any ideas? We
are VERY slow starting up since upgrading to NIS2004.

Thanks,
H.

Had to increase cpu core voltage to compensate for higher
clock frequency. AMD 2500XP running at 3200XP speed.

I have exactly the same problem (symevent.sys finally completes the boot after 73.1 seconds), and I'm not overclocked. Can anyone advise please??
